Personal Reflection

Why?

Why Word on Yellow Sticky Notes Help MysteryI need to detour from our regular topics to write about the condition of our nation and our world.  The events from last week are too devastating not to write about them.

Why is there so much senseless tragedies and evil?  Here are two young men, living in America for many years and then, without hardly a thought of what they were doing to innocent lives, they create a cruel bomb and damage many people’s lives forever.

Then I read about a young teenager who takes her life because of vicious lies and photos posted on the internet.

These are not accidents.  These were deliberate acts of crime.

Yet as these crimes happened, many rushed to their aid, not fearing for their own life but wanting to help others.

So, we have a spiritual warfare of good versus evil.  And it will continue until Jesus comes back.  I’ve heard preachers say that as we near the end time, there will be more evil but also more good.

The war between evil and good started in the Garden of Eden and continued throughout the Old Testament with King Saul, Joseph’s brothers and Daniel all the way to the New Testament and the death of Jesus, Stephen and the disciples.  And it continues today.

So what can you and I do?  We can start praying.  We can take the time in our day to literally fall on our knees and pray for our nation to come back to the faith of our fathers.  To pray that Americans will start looking out for others and to stop being selfish.

It starts in our own families.  Are you impatient with your children?  Resolve to stop and change how you react.  Do you disrespect your husband or boss or parents?  Choose to stop and change how you respond.  Do you have hateful feelings and unforgiveness toward others?  Unless we start changing from inside, from our souls and spirits, those around us will not change.

We need a revival in ourselves and then pray for a revival in our land.  Let’s pray for that today.

The human mind is more deceitful than anything else. It is incurably bad. Who can understand it?  Jeremiah 17:9

“For I know the plans that I have for you,” declared the Lord, “Plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to Me and I will listen to you.” Jeremiah 29:11-12
